What is Type 1 diabetes? – There is no cure, but we can save lives. Know your signs and symptoms.

Type 1 diabetes, which was formerly known as juvenile diabetes, is a chronic autoimmune condition that makes the body unable to produce insulin, which is the hormone that regulates blood sugar. Without insulin, our bodies cannot use the sugar in our bloodstream as energy, causing people to experience Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).

What are symptoms of Type 1 diabetes?

There are many signs or symptoms that can be present when someone has undiagnosed or untreated diabetes. Here are a few of those symptoms:

YOU CAN DIE from High Blood Sugars – You go into DKA Diabetic ketoacidosis – When your body breaks down the fat way to fast. Your liver processes the fat into ketones which causes your blood to become Acidic. This is what my sister Holly passed away from. She had Un-diagnosed Type 1 Diabetes. She went into DKA

  • Unquenchable thirst
  • Frequent urination
  • Unexplained bed-wetting
  • Unwanted or unexplained weight loss
  • Less energy
  • Fruity smelling breath
  • Blurry vision
  • Stomach pain
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Rapid, heavy breathing
